Terminal Capture

Terminal Capture is a system where transaction data is stored in the POS terminal until the batch of transactions is settled, typically at the end of the business day. Once the batch is closed, the data is sent to the payment processor for processing and the transactions are cleared from the terminal’s memory.

One advantage of Terminal Capture is that it allows for offline transaction processing, which can be useful in situations where a reliable internet connection is not available. However, it also requires more memory on the POS terminal and can complicate transaction lookup and reporting, as data is distributed across multiple terminals.
